During the nearly 360 million year crystallization process, minerals, metals, limestone and phosphorus contained in sediment layers penetrate deeply the core of buried trees, yet without altering completely its structure
Thus petrified wood, the base of the formation of agathe and chalcedony, is the chemical result of an environment saturated with silica
The aesthetic of this exceptional material varies from light brown, deep black or charcoal grey nuances

The making of this outstanding pen is supervised by Herbert Stephan who perpetuates the great tradition of precious stones cutting, born in the XVth century in Idar Oberstein (Germany)
